This part of the session is for offensive players looking to shoot harder and more accurately. Players need to be working out and dialiing in their skills and shooting is the most imprtant skill in the game.
- Players work in small groups under the instruction of the NJLT offensive coaches
- Sessions focus on shooting harder and more accurate
- Reps, Reps, Reps! The more shots taken the better the players shot will become.
- Workouts are designed to train and develop every shot and place on the field
- Shooting on the run, Time and Room, Inside finishing – everything will be worked on in these sessions.
- Shot placement and field location to train the best places to shoot from and where to shoot the ball on the cage.
This session is for defenive players (midfielders and long poles) looking for defensive position specific work. Players need be working on their skills and a huge part of defense is being in the right spot and reacting the right way to an offensive players dodging – this is done through training.
- Players work in small groups under the instruction of the NJLT defensive coaches
- Sessions focus on positioning, footwork, approach, stick checks and lacrosse individual and team defensive strategy

- Footwork and approach are key for one on one defenders to be successful.
- Team positioning and strategy for team defense.
Workouts are reps sessions and the more shots a goalie faces, the better they will see the ball and make the saves. This session is for goalies looking for consistent workouts – just like the pro’s, players need to be out dialiing in their skills and goalies making saves is nothing different.
- Players work in small groups under the instruction of the NJLT goalie coaching staff
- Sessions focus on reps – getting more shots and seeing shots from every angle and place on the field.
- These sessions will provide goalies with repetition, training and core goalie skill development
- Workouts are designed to train and develop proper form in cage and develop muscle memory
Elite Speed Training is for every player. Footwork/speed and agility will be a part of every weekly workout. No matter the experience level – ALL players can be faster and stronger runners. Lacrosse has two speeds – players need to be fast and they need to be quick. Fast is the speed players need from one end of the field to the other. Quick refers to their first few steps when engaging an opponent.
- Sessions focus on movement – faster overall speed and quicker initial bursts of speed..
- Form and fundamentals of running are important to have dialed in.
Bring a full set of equipment for all sessions. Depending on the session, we may elect to go helmets and gloves. Goalies will always need full gear.

INCLEMENT WEATHER:
No refunds of any kind will be granted in the event of inclement weather during a scheduled NJLT event. NJLT staff will do their best to accommodate any inclement weather situation and may or may not attempt to make up disrupted time. Inclement weather is defined as lightning, snow, and ice conditions which render the fields in a condition that is not playable. Rain without lightning, winds, heat and cold are not considered inclement weather situations and sessions will likely continue as planned.
Please check the weather and dress appropriately for all sessions. NJLT is not responsible if fields or parks close due to weather situations and will do our best to reschedule any missed time.
WEATHER NOTICE:
If the forecast calls for inclement weather keep an eye on your email and on social. We post first on social and then email out to participants. From time to time our emails have landed in people’s spam folders. If you are not sure about the weather feel free to reach out via email to [email protected] or call/text 908-445-5800.
SCHEDULE CHANGES:
No refunds will be granted in the event that NJLT needs to change the schedule of our events for any reason. Schedules are subject to change and if changes in schedule cause players to not be able to participate then a credit to future camps and clinics will be issued.
What is the difference between NJLT weekly workouts and NJLT Clinics?
Weekly workouts are designed for players who have experience and are looking to dial in their skills. Our training model shifts throughout the year to best prepare players for the lacrosse taking place at that time. In winter/early spring we work on skills to prepare for the spring lacrosse season. In the fall we work on some skills that are new to some and need work to provide enough time to get dialed in by the spring season.
Weekly workouts take place every week and are for players working on dialing in their learned skills. Clinics are about learning new skills and changing their gameplay where they need high levels of instruction.
Will training be position specific?
Yes! Players will be put through a variety of drills focused across all of their needs to develop as a player. Stick skills, speed and agility, as well as position specific workouts are the core of our weekly workouts.
We see coaches on their phones – whats up with that?
More than likely they are either taking pictures/video for social or they are checking their gameplan for the session. In 2023 we moved to an all digital system for our gameplans, drills, and documentation. Coaches are provided detailed gameplans and to ensure all aspects of the training are hit, they will be required to check the plan from time to time throughout the session.
