About NJLT and our Founder Dennis Mann
NJLT was created in 2010 to cultivate higher levels of coaching and training in support of the fastest growing sport in America. The general consensus among players and parents is that there is a lack of experienced coaches in the lacrosse world; players are often exposed to subpar experiences on the field. We aim to change that.
Our staff has trained, played, coached, and lived lacrosse at every level. NJLT coaches excel both on and off the field and are selected based on both athletic and teaching abilities. We are all longtime fans and lifelong students of the game – and we endeavor to impart our knowledge to the young athletes of tomorrow.
Founder and Director Dennis Mann began his lacrosse journey in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. “Delco” is a hotbed for Pennsylvania lacrosse and is home to some of the best players and teams in the nation. He left his mark at Haverford High School as one of the most decorated lacrosse players in school history. Moving on to play for the Pioneers at Widener University in 2002, Mann notched an astounding 149 goals with a shooting percentage of over 60% and over 200 points in his 4 years at Widener. He was recognized 3 years as an all Middle Atlantic Conference Attackman. As the team’s leading goal scorer, Coach Mann led the Pioneers to 3 MAC Championships and 3 NCAA Playoffs. To this day he is ranked the #4 leading goal scorer in school history.
After graduating from Widener, Mann began his professional career as a teacher in Media, Pennsylvania. He joined the Garnet Valley High Jaguars (#6 in the state) coaching staff as Offensive Coordinator and Goalie Coach before moving on the following season to coach at Hillsborough High School in New Jersey. While at Hillsborough Mann received his NFHS Lacrosse Coaching Certification for the state of New Jersey. After four seasons teaching and coaching he chased an opportunity to join the Universal Lacrosse Company.
Mann has dedicated countless hours to private lessons, small group training, consulting with local teams, and spending his summers directing and coaching at camps and clinics. Drawing from his teaching experience he designs every lacrosse lesson for NJLT like he is delivering a lesson in the classroom. Mann selects and trains each coach for NJLT to guarantee that members of his staff will provide the highest level of training for every young player who walks onto our field.
